Church Hill Academy is an independent, Christian coed high school and part of the nonprofit organization CHAT (Church Hill Activities & Tutoring). Our shared mission is to equip students from Richmond’s East End to achieve academic success, develop character and serve the community.

We provide individualized and holistic education, a safe and engaging environment for learning, and all the courses Virginia requires to complete high school. While scripture, prayer, and weekly chapel are a part of our school schedule, students are not required to be or become Christians.

Church Hill Academy is proud to be a part of CHAT, an organization of community and faith-based, integrated programs that work to equip and serve children aged 2 ½ to 18 to make transformative decisions about who they are and aspire to be.

For 14 years, CHAT has provided academic tutoring, life skills and leadership programs, and faith-based training to Church Hill youth. It has expanded to offer workforce apprenticeships and post-college internship residencies to qualified, dedicated candidates.

And since 2007, Church Hill Academy has provided a specialized educational experience to students who have not met with success in previous endeavors.

We are members of the StreetSchool Network™, a national group of private schools working to meet the needs of youth and reduce the national high school dropout rate.  Member schools educate the “whole student” through programs encompassing academic rigor, career preparation, life-skills building, economic literacy and spiritual development.

The Academy does not receive federal or state funding for school operations. Classes are presently conducted at Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church, 2010 Carlisle Ave, Richmond, VA, 23231.

Church Hill Academy offers counseling services for students in order to maintain emotional and mental health.
